SGEU MVP of the Week: Ty Mason, Weyburn Red Wings
After 10 days off the Weyburn Red Wings returned to action this week as they kicked off a 6 game homestand and there was no one better this week than forward Ty Mason. The 17-year-old was superb for the Wings, scoring 5 goals in 3 games and added 2 assists. Mason showed instant chemistry with newcomer Riley Morgan, who the Wings acquired from the La Ronge Ice Wolves ahead of the December 1st roster deadline. Mason is now up to 10 goals and 10 assists on the season and is 2nd in team scoring. He will look to continue his hot play when the Red Wings continue their homestand this weekend with games against Kindersley and Melfort.

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Dawson Smith, La Ronge Ice Wolves
Despite being one of the top goalies in the SJHL this season, this week marks the first time which Dawson Smith of the La Ronge Ice Wolves has been named Sasktel Goalie of the Week. It was a big week for the Ice Wolves, who played 4 games in 5 nights and the team went 3-1. Smith was in net for all 3 of the Ice Wolves wins this week as they knocked off Notre Dame, Weyburn, and Estevan. In total, Smith made 88 saves across his 3 starts this week. Smith also owns a 13-4 record on the season, has the 3rd best goals against average in the league at 2.46, and 2nd best save percentage at .932.

Directwest Rookie of the Week: Cody Jaman, Kindersley Klippers
The Kindersley Klippers got back in the win column Saturday night with a big 2-1 win in a shootout over the Notre Dame Hounds. One of the big reasons why Kindersley picked up the 2 points Saturday was the play of rookie goaltender Cody Jaman. The 18-year-old made 42 saves in the victory and only let one past him. Since joining the Klippers, Jaman owns a .923 save percentage which is 4th in the SJHL and boasts a 4-4-2-1 record.

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Kevin Minnoch, Melfort Mustangs
The Melfort Mustangs continue to play their best hockey of the season as they have points in their last 8 games. This past week, veteran blue-liner Kevin Minnoch was excellent for the Mustangs, who earned 3 out of a possible 4 points. The 20-year-old registered a goal and an assist in the Mustangs massive 7-0 win against Yorkton on Friday and then followed it up with a pair of assists in their shootout loss to Battlefords Saturday. This brings Minnoch’s numbers on the season to 4 goals and 11 assists, which is already a career high.
