North Battleford, SK- The Battlefords North Stars are ecstatic to announce the hiring of Owen Lamb as the team’s new assistant coach. Lamb will join newly named Head Coach & GM Garry Childerhose behind the bench for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Owen is a hometown boy who grew up as a Stars fan. He had an excellent playing career as a former North Star from 2016-2019 and has invaluable knowledge and experiences from that chapter in his life. After a 3 year career with the Stars playing 164 games with 44 goals and 47 assists he moved on to the University of Alberta Augustana of the ACAC for 5 seasons where after convocation this past April he moved back home.

President Kyle Kellgren had nothing but positive remarks to boast “As President, I am very proud to have not only one but two hometown guys leading our team this upcoming season. It will make history as the first ever hometown duo to coach for the Battlefords North Stars making this a very special time for not only our organization but for our community as a whole”

Head Coach & GM Garry Childerhose is also overjoyed to have Lamb to work alongside for the upcoming season with nothing but good things to say “I’m very excited to have Owen join as Assistant Coach. He’s a hometown guy with tremendous character and is a proven winner. He’s been a part of two Championships for the North Stars in 2017 and 2019 and I’m looking forward to working together and seeing his transition from player to coach.”

Lamb is excited for the opportunity to help lead the next wave of Battlefords North Stars in his hometown. “I’m thrilled to announce that I will be joining the North Stars Junior Hockey Team as an assistant coach. This team has had a profound impact on my life; like many young hockey fans in our community, I grew up idolizing the North Stars. Having had the privilege to play junior hockey here in my hometown, I now have the incredible opportunity to give back to both the organization and the community that shaped me. I’m eager to start this journey, connect with the players and staff, and work together to improve every day. Giving back to the community that has supported me throughout my career is a dream come true, and I am committed to making a positive impact both on and off the ice.”
