REGINA, SK – Wednesday in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League was a night of win-streak extensions.

Reigning Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week Clay Sleeva extended his point streak to seven games as the Melfort Mustangs downed the Flin Flon Bombers 3-1 at the Northern Lights Palace. The Mustangs increased their win streak to a league-high seven games and moved four points ahead of the Battlefords North Stars for second place.

The Melville Millionaires were in control all night in Wilcox and advanced their win streak to four with a dominant 7-1 victory over the Notre Dame Hounds. Veteran forward Bradley Banach led the way with an impressive four-goal outing as coach Doug Johnson’s men pushed their lead in fifth place to three over the Weyburn Red Wings.

Meanwhile in Humboldt, a severely depleted Estevan Bruins club put up a good fight for the first 10 minutes and took a 1-0 lead, but then gave up five straight markers en route to a 6-2 Broncos win. Humboldt’s win streak is now at three games and they are now only one point behind Battlefords for that third spot in the standings.
