Melfort Mustangs 23/24 Season Preview

In just one week the puck will officially drop on the SJHL regular season. Our final season preview of the week will focus on the Melfort Mustangs.

It was another strong year for the Mustangs, finishing the campaign with a 31-16-5-4 record which was good for 4th place.

After a hard-fought first round series win in six games over the La Ronge Ice Wolves, the Mustangs were eliminated in the 2nd round of the playoffs by the Battlefords North Stars.

Melfort received a big boost in the off-season as both Zac Somers and James Venne announced they would be returning to the organization and now the Mustangs are hoping to be back in the mix once again this season.

SJHL Director of Media Jeromy Corrigan sat down with Mustangs Head Coach and General Manager Trevor Blevins to discuss what it means to have both Somers and Venne return, and what he expects from his club this season.
