BRUINS GET HUNTER FROM DAUPHIN

Saturday, May 22, 2010

The Estevan Bruins acquired 1990 F Troy Hunter (Virden MB) from the MJHL's Dauphin Kings for 1991 F Jeremy Peeke (Semans SK) and future considerations.

The trade was actually part of the Devin Mitzner transaction from late December and there is still another piece of that puzzle for the Bruins, who expect to make an announcement in the next ten days or so.

Hunter had 11-goals and 21-assists in 56-games.  He also accumulated 100-penalty minutes.  His played picked up further in the playoffs as he emerged as a 'leader by example' type of two-way player and he finished with 5-goals and 6-assists in 13-games before scoring another 4-goals and 2-assists in 5-games played against La Ronge in the ANAVET Cup.

Peeke had 6-goals and 10-assists in 44-games during his first Junior 'A' season.

In a separate move, the Bruins announced they have traded 1990 F Matt Beer closer to home in Ontario via a futures transaction with the Wellington Dukes.

In addition to a further Estevan-Dauphin announcement in the coming days; the Bruins also have an announcement planned for next month that will finish off the future considerations with La Ronge in a deal that saw Colton MacPherson and Liam Brennan get traded to the Ice Wolves.
